Apple Ridge Farm seeks a detail-oriented professional to provide general administrative and marketing support 15-20 hours per week to assist with our 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization’s day-to-day operation! This is a remote role with the expectation of making bi-weekly post office and bank runs and other rare errands, as needed. The fun exception would be during our 6-week Academic Summer Camp program (June/July), where more hours are required, and the expectation would be to work from our camp office in Copper Hill, VA. Additional opportunities may be available for special events or campaigns. This position reports directly to the Director of Administration & Development. The pay rate is $16 per hour, and payroll occurs on Thursdays bi-weekly.
Duties:
- Assists Director of Administration & Development with a wide variety of administrative,financial, and development duties, as assigned
- Correctly inputs donor accounts and income into the database accurately and timely
- Serves as the first point of contact for the organization; Manages phone lines and assigned emailaccounts; Directs leads to appropriate personnel and resolves questions whenever possible in aprofessional, courteous, and efficient manner
- Assists with preparing donor communications, including acknowledgment letters; Preparesthorough and accurate documents and spreadsheets based on data obtained from records andother sources
- Manages our Airbnb listings through the Airbnb app, including all communications with guests,and regularly updates the calendar with rental bookings
- Ensures each guest has a pleasant stay; Completes host Airbnb reviews
- Communicates B&B booking information to housekeeping staff in a timely and orderly fashion;Ensure each “same day flip” is highlighted as a turnover
- Work with Directors to create and manage social media brand presence. Develop the socialmedia strategy to strengthen our brand by creating and scheduling motivational and excitingcontent, responding to all contacts and inquiries, and engaging the public.
- Responsible for making bi-weekly bank deposits after journal review
- Retrieves and distributes mail as directed
- Maintains Apple Ridge Farm (ARF) electronic files and organizes and archives files, followingthe ARF retention policy
- Performs all other related tasks as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma; Minimum of two years of administrative experience; Minimum of twoyears of non-profit or development administrative experience or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Google Docs, Adobe Pro, Dropbox, generaldatabases, Canva, and Social Media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
- Familiarity with accounting and QuickBooks is a plus!
- Solid written and oral communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to be accountable for own work and schedule tasks withminimal supervision
- Efficiently sets priorities, multi-tasks, and meets deadlines
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot standard office equipment
- Must have reliable transportation
- Must pass a successful Virginia Background Check to include violent crimes and crimes against minors.

Location: 173 Apple Ridge, NE, Copper Hill, VA 24079
Apple Ridge Farm seeks an experienced housekeeper to clean and maintain facilities and lodging areas. Hours for this position are limited and seasonal. Scheduling will occur as needed on a part-time basis. Site-specific training and supplies will be provided. Payroll occurs bi-weekly on Thursdays. This position is located in Copper Hill, VA, 24079.
Duties:
● Ensures cleanliness of designated areas according to Apple Ridge standards.
● Performs other duties as requested, including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mopping, cleaning and stocking bathrooms, trash removal, recycling, etc.
● Services guest rooms as needed in accordance with Apple Ridge Farm, Caboose Car Bed & Breakfast procedures, such as stocking guest room supplies and changing bed linens, while following company standards and safety/security procedures.
● This role would also conduct ‘deep cleaning’ activities within the guest rooms or event spaces in conjunction with volume needs or preventative maintenance tasks.
● Secures the facility, ensuring buildings are locked/unlocked as required.
● Ensures security of company assets.
● Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the manager.
Requirements:
● Previous custodial experience preferred
● This position requires strong attention to detail and an ability to communicate effectively with team members verbally and in written form.
● Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling greater than 50 lbs.
● Must be available to work weekends – Flexibility is a plus!
● Must be proficient in the use of e-mail, Google Calendar, and smart-phone apps
● Must have a smartphone with efficient cellular service
● Must pass a successful Virginia Background Check to include violent crimes and crimes against minors
● Must have reliable transportation

LIFEGUARD/SWIM INSTRUCTOR – Part Time / Seasonal POSITION
Rate of Pay: $15/hr

Duration: Approx. 32 hrs /wk approximately June 10th – July 18th, Monday-Thursdays & additional opportunities throughout the season to cover pool rental events
Have you been told that you swim like a fish? Do you enjoy working with children? Are you looking for a fun summer job? Apple Ridge Farm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, youth-serving organization that transforms the lives of underserved children and families through engagement in unparalleled educational, cultural, and outdoor experiences!
We seek a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor for seven weeks for our exciting academic summer camp in Copper Hill, VA. Additionally, our Lifeguards are expected to staff pool rental events on an as-needed basis, as rentals are booked and would require transportation. This position reports directly to the Program Director. The pay rate is $15 per hour, and payroll occurs on Thursdays, bi-weekly.
Duties:
- Provide life safety for all campers and swimming pool users.
- Teach swimming lessons for all sessions. Prepare a summary of activities and camper highlights at the end of camp.
- Ensure all persons in the pool area are safe and accounted for.
- Be a role model at all times!
- General duties include maintaining the pool environment, including chemicals and vacuuming, and the cleanliness of the pool and locker room areas.
Requirements:
- High School Student (Minimum age of 16)
- Lifeguard with active certification or ability to become certified (Apple Ridge will sponsor) Must attend and pass lifeguard certification classes before camp.
- Advanced swimmer – able to perform rescues as needed for both youth and adults
- Ability to monitor large groups of inner-city children ages 6-14 in a pool setting
- Ability to work outside all day in a pool environment
- Must be available to work Summer Camp 2024 dates TBD (Jun-July), M-Th, 32 hours per week.
- Must additionally work weekend pool rental events as needed throughout the season until pool closure on Labor Day. (Opportunities will be rotated between the lifeguards)
High Ropes/Team Challenge Instructor – Seasonal Position

Duration: 21-32 hrs/wk Est. June 10th – July 18th, Monday-Thursdays and potential to work additional teambuilding events throughout the year

Apple Ridge Farm is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, youth-serving organization that transforms the lives of underserved children and families through engagement in unparalleled educational, cultural, and outdoor experiences!
We are searching for a High Ropes/Team Challenge Instructor to operate our ropes courses, including a 60 ft. climbing wall and zip line for our fun, 6-week academic summer camp in Copper Hill, VA. Transportation from Roanoke can be coordinated. Training will be provided. Must be available for High Ropes training (to be coordinated) and for camp training and summer camp (2024 dates to be announced). Scheduled 21-32 hours each week. Beyond the summer, our Team Challenge Instructors have the option to continue to work on an occasional, as-needed basis as Team Challenge programs are booked. This position reports directly to the Director of Administration & Development.
Duties:
- Perform ropes elements hazard inspections prior to climbs; report any equipment, structure, or surrounding hazard concerns to the Camp Director
- Ensure all gear and equipment are clean, orderly, and accounted for
- Practice and prepare for emergency procedures, such as rescues and scripted protocol for emergency response; ensuring the safety of all participants
- Be a role model at all times! Safely perform all high ropes tasks and guide fellow staff and young participants through elements
- Conduct group preparation and safety briefings
- Facilitate team building amongst all group members by communicating and providing parameter and challenging tasks with each element and promote challenge by choice
Requirements:
- Work in a camp/outdoor setting and be in excellent physical health and able to handle all physical aspects of running the courses and conducting safety rescues
- Facilitate groups of inner-city children ages 6-14
- ACCT High Ropes Certification a plus (or willingness to attend Apple Ridge Farm sponsored High Ropes training)
- First Aid / CPR / AED – Adult and Pediatric – Certification (or willing to participate in the training)
- Trauma-informed Care Training (or willingness to participate in training)

Site-specific training and supplies will be provided.

Payroll occurs bi-weekly on Thursdays.
