LIFEGUARD / SWIM INSTRUCTOR – SUMMER EMPLOYMENT – PART TIME
Lifeguard / Swim Instructor (Summer 2026)
Location: 173 Apple Ridge Rd, Copper Hill, VA 24079
Pay: $15.00 per hour
Schedule: June 8 – July 23, 2026 | Monday–Thursday | ~30 hours/week
Reports to: Program Director

Apple Ridge Farm is a nonprofit dedicated to helping underserved children grow through educational, cultural, and outdoor experiences. As a Lifeguard/Swim Instructor, you will play a key role in creating a safe, fun, and confidence-building environment for campers.
Transportation from Roanoke may be coordinated.
What You’ll Do
• Teach swimming lessons to campers of varying skill levels
• Ensure safety and supervision of all individuals in the pool area
• Serve as a positive role model for youth ages 6–16
• Maintain pool cleanliness, including basic chemical checks and vacuuming
• Assist with locker room and pool area upkeep
• Provide end-of-session summaries highlighting camper progress and activities
• Support pool rental events on an as-needed basis (rotating schedule)
What We’re Looking For
• Minimum age: 16
• Strong swimming ability with rescue readiness
• Current Lifeguard Certification OR ability to obtain (sponsored by Apple Ridge Farm)
• Ability to manage and engage large groups of children
• Comfortable working outdoors in a summer environment
• Availability for full camp schedule (June 8 – July 23, 2026)
• Flexibility to assist with occasional pool rentals through Labor Day

Housekeeper /Airbnb Hostess – Seasonal position / Part-time / As Needed
Location: 173 Apple Ridge, NE, Copper Hill, VA 24079
Apple Ridge Farm seeks an experienced housekeeper to clean and maintain facilities and lodging areas. Hours for this position are limited and seasonal. Scheduling will occur as needed on a part-time basis. Site-specific training and supplies will be provided. Payroll occurs bi-weekly on Thursdays. This position is located in Copper Hill, VA, 24079.
Duties:
● Ensures cleanliness of designated areas according to Apple Ridge standards.
● Performs other duties as requested, including but not limited to sweeping, dusting, mopping, cleaning and stocking bathrooms, trash removal, recycling, etc.
● Services guest rooms as needed in accordance with Apple Ridge Farm, Caboose Car Bed & Breakfast procedures, such as stocking guest room supplies and changing bed linens, while following company standards and safety/security procedures.
● This role would also conduct ‘deep cleaning’ activities within the guest rooms or event spaces in conjunction with volume needs or preventative maintenance tasks.
● Secures the facility, ensuring buildings are locked/unlocked as required.
● Ensures security of company assets.
● Other related duties and tasks as assigned by the manager.
Requirements:
● Previous custodial experience preferred
● This position requires strong attention to detail and an ability to communicate effectively with team members verbally and in written form.
● Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling greater than 50 lbs.
● Must be available to work weekends – Flexibility is a plus!
● Must be proficient in the use of e-mail, Google Calendar, and smartphone apps
● Must have a smartphone with efficient cellular service
● Must pass a successful Virginia Background Check, including violent crimes and crimes against minors
● Must have reliable transportation
● A successful background check regarding violent crimes or crimes against minors is required.
